As first-time parents, we want to enjoy our child’s first everything. As Mikael’s birthday was coming closer, I had a certain theme in mind but my ideas were all over the place honestly. On my baby shower last year, I wanted to plan everything and it kind of became overwhelming. I did get a lot of help from friends but the whole experience was a lot to handle with pregnancy. This year I decided to delegate the task as much as possible to plan Mikael’s first birthday.
For the venue, we found it best to do it at the community center as we were touching 50+ people. Once we had the community center booked, we had to take care of 3 more tasks. The food, the cake, and the decor. We kept the food traditional like biryani. korma, kebabs. Given our demographics, we knew everyone would enjoy desi food.
For the decor and cake, I found a set of colors that caught my eye. As Mikael’s too young to pick his own theme, he does enjoy a lot of nurseries. On my Pinterest search, I saw a backdrop with dark blue, light blue, silver and white balloons. I instantly fell in love with it. I reached out to party decor planner and gave her the ideas and she planned the rest out for me. Lastly, for the cake, Mikael loves the ABC train on YouTube. Of all the nurseries, he enjoys ABC train the most. So I wanted to make sure he gets the ABC Train cake.
As the decor was done a little late. We didn’t get time to take photos beforehand. Honestly, it gets a little overwhelming once the guests arrive. But we were able to get a lot of photos of the main backdrop and the cake. Enjoy the pics everyone xoxo
