1. Down Coats and Puffer Jackets

Puffer jackets and down coats are a must-have in winter especially if you live on the east coast. As I have always lived in winter with below freezing temperature, sherpa jackets just don’t do it for me. Wearing layers and light jackets will get me through fall but when the temperature drops, I need heavy-duty outerwear. Puffer jackets for cold winter are not just comfy, they also create a statement look. The Amazon Essential brand has the best affordable and comfiest jackets. They come in 10 colors and I stock a new colors every winter. They are definitely my all-time favorite. A down coat (preferably with a hood) is your next option when the cold becomes unbearable. Columbia Women’s Mighty Lite Hooded Jacket is by far one of the best jackets for below-freezing temperature.

2. Cable Knit Scarves

You will come across a variety of scarves in winter but it all comes down to where you live. When snow hits and begins to freeze on road, that’s an indication that I need to get my cable-knit scarves out. Cable knit is the only material I need in cold winter. Make sure to opt-in for good quality that can last you a couple of seasons like the ones below!

3. Winter Boots

If I am speaking of cold winter, chances are it snows there. And when snow turns into slush, you need water-resistant and at times insulated boots to keep you warm. If you are waiting for the bus, your toes might freeze if your boots are not warm enough. My favorite shoe brands for cold winter are Sorel and The North Face. Check them out below:

4. Chunky Knit Sweaters

Slowly but surely, Amazon Fashion has become my go-to for sweaters. I remember years back, I would be searching for affordable knitwear sweaters but would come across the ones with low quality. Their pieces are all under $50 and can be the coziest sweaters for all winter months. I am seriously a fan!

5. Tights

There are some of us here who will never be a fan of pants or jeans and that’s totally ok. You just need to wear cozy tights that compliment cold winter. I honestly had the hardest time finding cozy tights and it took me years to learn about thermal and cable knit tights. I would just wear the regular tights and would often freeze myself but thermal and cable knit tights are a cold winter staple.

I feel like men can wear any of the above. Substitute the tights for long-johns.

Do they need puffy coats in Florida? I think the more northerly states, on both coasts and the center of the USA enjoy the warmth and comfort of the puffy down most.

I visited Miami in December once, it was colder by the beachside, and puffer jackets would definitely help there.
