I didn’t just witness nail trends at the backstage of NYFW, I also had the chance to spot major upcoming makeup trends thanks to Maybelline and Lancome. I wanted to thank both brands for having me backstage and let me experience top makeup artists do magic on the girls. Here’s my takeaway from the makeup artists:
Natural Coverage
Natural coverage looks have been in for a while and don’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and Age Rewind Concealer were the top-used foundations for natural looks. Erin Parsons is literally my new makeup guru. Her application was flawless and to the point.
2. Soft Cheeks
This year was all about soft and sun-kissed cheeks, the idea was to keep it warm, natural, glowy even on medium-heavy looks. Most common blushes used were Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Rose, Lancôme Blush Subtil in French Blush, Smile & Blush, Rose Liberté, and Maybelline-Cheek-Heat-Blush (launching globally January 2020).
3. Gloss and Neutral for Lips
I saw a lot of statement colors and they varied for each girl on the runaway but what really stood out for me were neutral colors and glossy lips. I didn’t notice much pop of colors but I noticed a lot of neutral color lipsticks on most runaways. The most used products were Maybelline Baby Lips Quenched, Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipsticks, and Maybelline SuperStay Matte Lipsticks.
4. Defined Eyes
Whether it was dramatic eyes or just plain eyes with one color across lids, every eye look had a definition of its own. I loved how Grace Lee of Maybelline kept the eyelids plain but then added definition through Maybelline Volum’ Express The Colossal Washable Mascara at Rebecca Minkoff show. Most used products across shows were Maybelline Lemonade Craze Palette, Maybelline TattooStudio Eyeliner Pencil, and Lancôme Hypnôse Palette in Bois Corail.
