The Best Way to Dress for an Interview this Summer

As summer is approaching, companies start lining up interviews for positions starting in fall or even mid-summer. Depending on where you are being interviewed, the interview dress may vary but it’s important to keep yourself cool and breathable in summer. While wearing a formal black blazer makes you look presentable, it can also make you super sweaty. I have lined up top tips on how to keep yourself cool yet presentable for summer interviews. Keep reading below to learn more:

Wear Light Summer Fabrics

Cotton, rayon, and linen are all perfect materials for hot weather. The cotton is soft and allows the heat out to keep you cool. What I love about cotton is the countless style it carries. You will find cotton pretty much everywhere! Linen, on the other hand, is a loose stiff material and doesn’t stick to your body. It also allows more heat to escape than cotton. Lastly, Rayon is made up of different fabric materials and is pretty much a thin fiber. It is a cheaper option and good for hot summers. To summarize, all these fabrics are perfect for summer and come in all types of variety. If you are looking for blazers, skirts or dress shirts, there is plenty of variety in these fabrics.

Look for Light Colors

It’s summer! Given I live in Canada, we only get summer for 3 months max. Make the most use out of it and experiment with colors. For summer interviews, look for breathable colored dresses and suits. I love wearing baby pink, light blue, and white in summer.

Stay Away From Layers

I was always obsessed with blazers in my early 20s. I felt like the interview look was not complete without blazers. With time, I started carrying my blazer in my arms in summers. Now when I look back, I should have just worn dresses or dress shirts with pants in summer. It makes life so much easier!
