1. Play with Colors

I live on the east coast and I grew up wearing everything that was dark or to be precise black. I lived in Toronto for over 18+ years and if you looked at my closet than, you would find 70% black and 30% white. Over the past 5 years, I have begun to add more and more colors. On my Paris trip in 2019, I loved seeing so many colors (it was definitely new to me because I didn’t see that much growing up). And I loved it! One of the best ways to pull off Emily’s look is to wear colorful dresses. Dresses are basics in Paris and Parisians know so many ways to style them. From mini to midi to maxi dresses, they are always trending!

2. Add textures to your looks

I also noticed Emily was layering the majority of her looks. And a lot of the looks were layered with jackets/blazers of different textures. I saw her wearing plaids, tweeds, leathers, graphics as well as other textures. The layering made the outfits pop and gave the look more definition. Just as I kept seeing textures, I realized I am in love with plaid and tweed blazers all over again. They scream Paris vibes!

3. Don’t Forget Accessories

I mean is your look even complete if you don’t wear accessories! The looks in ‘Emily in Paris’ wouldn’t have been a success if it weren’t for those berets, baker boy hats and the scarfs. They vamped up the looks to make Emily a total Parisian. It really took me back to my Paris trip days where I wore a beret whenever I got the chance.

4. Finish with Parisian Brands

If you are fully going to pull off Emily’s look then let’s make sure to wear a Chanel brooch or Dior earrings. After all, Paris wouldn’t be Paris if it wasn’t for all the fashion brands we swoon over.

There you have it! That is how you can dress like Emily in Paris.

Hi Emily, I don’t know where in Toronto you lived that you claim you did not see many colours.
I have lived in Toronto for 50 years and there is always people wearing fashionable colours on the streets.
Also all the clothes you have shown is not new. My daughter have been borrowing these styles from my own closet.

Hi Yvonne, I am sure Torontonians wear colors as well. I attended schools there (from elementary to University) and I do not recall seeing vibrant colors. I am only talking from my experience!
